Members of the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center celebrated the Center’s sixth anniversary with a program and luncheon.

Over the past six years, the Center’s membership has expanded greatly, and includes members from age 55-96. The Center’s programing has expanded as well and now includes a Veteran’s Club, a Travel Club, an Official Red Hat Society, a Lunch Club, a Pinochle club, health and wellness programs, education, exercise and dancing classes, and much more.

Speakers included Alma Thomas, a 95 year old active member of the center, and Pastor Paul Hughes Mitchell, a native of West Philadelphia who founded Different Drummer LLC, a film marketing and audience mobilization agency in Hollywood, CA. He has lived all over the country and overseas, but says that he is happy to be home in Philadelphia, and that he has always had a special place in his heart for our nation’s seniors “You are the greatest generation,” he said. “You fought Hitler abroad, and Jim Crow at home.”
