Liberty Lutheran has always cared for the well-being of its employees with promotions like the Healthy Bonus program, challenges throughout the year such as the Biggest Loser competition, as well as healthy dining seminars. Liberty is now initiating a new way to promote healthy living amongst staff with Employee Health Fairs.

Three Health Fairs will be held this fall in three locations within the organization: Tuesday, October 8 at Artman, Tuesday, October 22 at Paul’s Run and Tuesday, November 12 at LCFS-Rising Sun. All of the fairs will take place from 12-4pm.

“There are several goals for the Health Fairs,” John Fairchild, employee wellness coordinator said. “The first is gaining information on how to live a healthier lifestyle, as well as learning about doctors in the area.”

Local doctors and specialists will be on-site to meet with employees, to make it easier for them to find health care providers that accept their insurance.

Fairchild says they will have local doctors and specialists on-site to meet with employees, to make it easier for them to find health care providers that accept their insurance. “Employees will not have to research as much to find a doctor in the area. The healthcare providers we are bringing in have the highest credentials, are reliable and are well-liked in the area. Bringing the doctors to the fair also allows for the quickest route to patient-doctor interaction,” he said.

Meeting the doctors is not the only thing the fairs to offer. There will be a raffle and a prize wheel and various information booths to educate employees on healthy living. And Fairchild says these will not be the typical booths where employees can expect to be handed a pamphlet or brochure, they will be fun and interactive booths where employees will learn by doing. For example there will be a Glogerm hand-washing station to teach proper hand washing techniques. Employees can wash their hands and then place them under a black light and the spots missed will “glow” under the light. Employees will also get to show off their fitness abilities at the adult fitness test station by doing push-ups and sit-ups.

Fairchild also explained how some booths will also promote proper posture and how it can reduce muscle and nerve pain. Employees can have their blood pressure and body composition checked at the blood pressure screening booth.

Nothing is more important than being healthy, so employees are encouraged to visit one of Liberty’s Employee Health Fairs, starting your journey toward a healthier, happier you!
