As you know, this pandemic has impacted older adults more than any other age group. Residents at Liberty’s five retirement communities, including ArtmanThe Hearth at DrexelPaul’s RunThe Manor at York Town, and The Village at Penn State are no exception. For that reason, Liberty has taken extraordinary measures to keep residents and the staff who care for them safe and protected.

Although imperative to these efforts, we realized the downside that would come with physical distancing, so we reimagined what our community life programs looked like. By doing so, our talented staff was able to take more activities to our residents, to be even more of a companion to them, and to help them stay safely connected to family and friends.

The steps that we have taken to keep our residents safe has come at a huge expense, and thanks to the generous support of our donors we continue to prevail. Some of our donors used their donor advised fund or a family foundation to support Liberty’s COVID-19 Response Fund.

Why did they choose to do so? Because donating through these funds allowed them to make a much larger gift for greater impact in the pandemic fight. What’s more, their contributions did not affect their current assets, as the money had already been set aside for charitable donations.

If you or your family have a donor advised fund or foundation, please consider making a gift to Liberty Lutheran to help fight COVID-19 today.

If you prefer, you can also donate to benevolent care, which provides peace of mind to residents and allows them to stay safely in their community, regardless of their ability to pay. During these uncertain economic times, this has become especially important to residents and their families.

How to recommend a gift to Liberty Lutheran:

  1. Request a grant distribution through your donor advised fund sponsor or family foundation.
  2. Be sure to use Liberty Lutheran’s Federal Tax ID Number (EIN)  23-3059658
  3. Indicate whether your gift is unrestricted or designated to the COVID-19 Response Fund, benevolent care or specific to one of our communities or lines of service.
