History
Incorporated in 1973 as the Lutheran Chaplaincy Services (LCS) of the Lehigh Valley, LCS was initially designed to provide training to lay members of Lutheran congregations so that they could serve as visitors in hospitals, nursing homes and prisons throughout the Lehigh Valley.
Over the years, LCS’s mission gradually expanded to include working with congregations throughout the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod to strengthen and widen our outreach within the community and the world.
Today, LCS consults with congregations, offers training for lay Eucharistic visitors, conducts a small group grief support ministry, and coordinates disaster response work.
Lutheran Congregational Services joined the Liberty family of services in July 2010 and continues to develop and expand its ministries throughout the Northeastern and Southeastern Pennsylvania Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
