On Sunday, September 7, 2014, nearly 10,000 congregations of the Lutheran Church will gather to serve communities in ways that share the love of God with all of God’s people. It’s called “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday. Liberty’s Lutheran Congregational Services (LCS) builds capacity for congregations and communities to serve those in need. Join us and your fellow Lutherans in service projects on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 for “God’s work. Our hands.”
Liberty and LCS are here to support your service for this nationwide event!
Here are just some of the ways you can serve the community Liberty:
- Chester and Montgomery Counties: Assist residents affected by February 2014 ice storms with disaster recovery projects.
- Northeast Philadelphia: Bring elderly residents of our senior community, Paul’s Run, to worship, stay for food and fellowship, then assist them to return to their apartments and rooms.
- Lehigh Valley: Organize laundry detergent and cleaning supplies for distribution to local food pantries at our Share Our Surplus Network Warehouse in Easton.
- Make Fleece Blankets or Kids Kits for Camp Noah: Camp Noah, a program of Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, offers week-long camps for children who have survived disasters. LCS regularly sends teams of volunteers to lead these camps. Instructions to make these items are located on our website.
- Collect and Assemble “Cleaning Buckets” for Disaster Response: Instructions are posted on our website.
- Collect Household Items and Assemble “Welcome Boxes” for Newly-Arriving Refugees: Find contents lists on our website. Items can be dropped off at Philadelphia, Allentown or Lancaster offices.
